Today, Marilyn and Connie, two of the trainers from St. Francis came out for our level three testing. We have been anxiously awaiting for this day for a couple weeks. The goal: to be able to "demonstrate enough control of the dog to be able to start working in public safety". The things Shanti had to do were: Sit, down (means lay down) , stand, come, left, right, back (walk backwards), stay (down), wait, leave it, load up (into car), tug (open door), bump (close door), help (go get attention of another person and lead back to Wes), flip (turn lights off and on), take it, hold, give, lap (place in lap), drop, go ahead (see ballgame blog entry), phone (get the phone), get it (pick up things on command). Whew! All in all, it went well and we passed!Next will be level Four: control of dog in public places. Of course this is much more difficult because of the distractions. We look forward to all the practicing....and then passing!
