Just like our child!
Shanti got a "boo-boo" yesterday. We're not exactly sure what it was, but it happened while he was playing fetch with his favorite stick. Wes said that Shanti had fetched the stick and all of a sudden yelped. I was in sleeping after working the night before. Typically when I get up from my nap, Shanti is right there wagging his tail and ready to kiss me hello. Yesterday, however, he was very withdrawn. I had to call him out of his crate and he came to me with his tail between his legs and his back hind quarters quivering. Wes reported what had happened earlier and said that Shanti had refused his evening meal. So I did what a mother would do and offered him something he loved....peanut butter! He took one lick, coughed and then laid down and turned his back toward me. He pepped up a little bit when it was time for me to leave for work. That was only because he thought he was going to get to go with me. So then I had to face the sad eyes of rejecting his unspoken request. :( Trying to figure out what the problem was was like figuring out what is wrong with a baby that can't talk....very frustrating. We think maybe he scratched the roof of his mouth. (He wouldn't let me open his mouth to check it out...this is also unusual because we do daily toothbrushing that he is very cooperative with.) Wes called me at work around midnight to say that Shanti finally ate his dinner and is acting more like himself. Thank goodness! I worried about our 4th boy just like I did the first, second and third. I'm hoping he will be ready to play tomorrow. I think we will lay off the stick game. Perhaps a nice walk will be in order!
